ELM DESIGN is a clothing company that has been making waves with its imaginative collection which is inspired by Iceland's unique landscape, art, and culture.   The design is Icelandic, and the raw materials are sourced throughout the world: Peruvian pima cotton and alpaca wool, Spanish linen and silk, Japanese taffeta and Micro Fiber. Carefully chosen luxurious fabrics are complementing all body shapes and sizes.

ELM Design was originally founded in 1999 as a knitwear company.  As most good stories begin, ELM Design started with three friends: Erna - Lisbet - Matthildur. The tree women arranged their first initials to form the company's brand name ELM. One of them began sketching sweaters and something in the designs spoke to women, because the garments soon began flying off the shelves. The seed had been planted.

ELM quickly grew beyond pure knitwear and the company soon expanded into offering a comprehensive collection, including jackets, suits, dresses and leather accessories, in addition to knitwear.

What Erna, Lisbet and Matthildur were able to bring to the ELM label was their own distinctive feminine perspective. Despite their diverse creative backgrounds - Matthildur is an art therapist, Lisbet is a painter, and Erna is a textile designer - they all share a sense of what makes a great garment. They each design their part of each collection, sometimes reworking ideas, allowing the company's signature style to evolve.
